This year, Turtle Beach was showing off their Ear Force X2 Wireless Xbox Headphones. Instead of a cheap, single-ear headset, the Ear Force X2 is a two-ear headset with large, high-quality speakers with cushioning, adjustable size, a rubber head strap and a flexible boom mic. With the two-ear design that incorporates the game audio as well as Xbox live chat, you're game audio isn't reduced to mono - you can hear your game audio in both ears and still chat.
The Ear Force X2 comes with a base unit that serves as a storage stand as well as wirelessly transmitting game audio from your Xbox or Xbox 360, using a high fidelity infrared signal. Xbox Live audio is handled utilizing a cord that plugs into your Xbox controller, in the typical fashion.
The infrared wireless audio feature worked well at E3 and the Ear Force X2's were comfortable to wear. Other than the obvious comfort factor, the Ear Force X2 is designed to deliver a more immersive listening environment and to allow late night gaming sessions that don't disturb those around you. |
